Finishing

Last weekend, my youngest son and I went to the KS state track meet. This meet consists of all 6 classes of schools, meaning 1A-6A, depending on where you live, you may know what this means. The 1A schools are the small schools and the 6A schools are the huge ones! We have a 4A school here, and his girlfriend goes to a 3A school.

We went to watch the girlfriend finish her high school career. She qualified for the state meet in 3 of her 4 events! When you go to a big track meet, you want it to be well-run, so that you are not there for eternity! This track meet has all 6 classes of schools, remember? BUT it is the best run sporting event in the state as far as I am concerned. Very organized, and the announcer continuously talks with trivia from past meets, and past medalists. For instance, there was a girl there from a 3A school, that in all 4 years of her high school career, won first place in the 100M, 200M, and 400M runs. First time in state history that someone has taken first in the same events for 4 years. There was another girl that won the pole-vault competiton for all 4 years. I went to this last year for the first time and now regret that I didn't go when my nieces were running/competing when they were in high school. Becky finshed her events with a first place, a 10th place, and a ? place, I can't remember!! But, the team won the class 3A championship for the 2nd year in a row. It was something to see.
