Meanderings

Recently, my husband and I had the opportunity to visit wine country in California, for the Barrel Tasting weekends, held every year in the Russian River Valley. They are known for their Pinot Noir wines, and oh do they know them!
I came away with 2 new favorite wineries, and one with Kansas connections, no less.
Here are a few pics from the weekend, enjoy.
Camellias in Healdsburgh
We did lots more than just drink wine, we visited 2 State Parks, unfortunately both are scheduled to close in July 2012, unless California finds a bunch of money. One of them was a Redwood Forest.
I just love the way the ferns are growning on the trees.Yes, there are fern growing, at first I thought it was a bunch of moss, but when you look closely, it is ferns!

And it is always fun to see the hills and valleys planted..

This is an old vine Zinfandel at Valley of the Moon, in Sonoma

We went to the coast one day to see if we could spot any gray whales, didn't see any breaches, but did see some blowing and caught a tail on one pic!

And it is always fun to drive the hills of SF on a Sunday morning!
